Hey Lindy Heyyy

It’s funny to imagine Lindy Ruff as the coach of the Stars. Never in a million years could any of us imagine the idea, yet here we are. Jim Nill and Tom Gaglardi both emphasized experience in their search for a new head coach, and they got it in one of the longest-tenured coaches the NHL has ever seen.

With Lindy’s hiring comes irony galore, and who knows? Maybe the key to getting back in the playoffs is by giving fate a chance. This hiring shows how things change and people change. After winning that oh-so-controversial Stanley Cup in 1999, no one would have ever thought we’d end up here with the opposing coach as our new bench boss. It’s seriously weird to think about in that manner.

I know a lot of people weren’t very enthusiastic about the idea of Lindy Ruff as new head coach, but I think this is a really good hiring by Nill and Co. Ruff was with the Sabres for like 15 years or something, so he must have been doing something right. This hiring shows Nill and Gaglardi getting serious about rebuilding this team. No more misses with coaches who never could relive the glory days (Marc Crawford) or coaches plucked straight of the AHL (Gully).

Let’s do this.
