Some Brad Richards News

Thanks to Andrew’s for the heads-up for letting us know that Brad hosted his annual celebrity golf tournament.

And for some reason that I’ll blame on the goodness of Brad’s heart, “That Guy” was invited, but didn’t show up.  Obviously, he doesn’t care about helping kids with cancer and autism.

Other guests were: Vinny Lecavalier (well, duh!),  James Sheppard (Minnesota), Corey Perry (BLECH!!!!), and our very own James Neal :).

Here’s the article:

Games to Watch in 09-10

I’ve been a bit off the radar lately, but that’s only because I was on vacation in Arizona in, like, the middle of nowhere.  Anyway, here are the games I’ll be watching for sure next year:

Oct. 3 vs. Nashville- I very interested to see the “new” Dallas Stars under Marc Crawford.  Plus, I’m pining for the Stars and this is the first time I’ll see them this season.

Oct. 28 vs. Toronto- We’d better win this game.  I want another 8-2 smashing over the Leafs, and more importantly, Jonas Gustavsson.

Nov. 7 @ Minnesota- Good things happen on November 7 to the Stars.  Modano scored his record-breaking goal two years ago, and one year ago, Mark Parrish scored a hat trick in his debut.  So what will we get this year?

Nov. 18 @ Detroit- Marty Turco may finally have battled his Detroit demons, so this one is a must-watch.  Playing Detroit is either an intense, yet entertaining match, or a drubbing on our part.  However, there is no feeling quite like the one you get when you beat Detroit.

Nov. 28 vs. Tampa Bay- It’s always interesting to see Brad Richards play against his BFF, Vinny Lecavalier.

Dec. 31 vs. Anaheim- So our New Year’s Eve game is against the Sucks?  I like it. 🙂

Jan 6. @ NY Rangers- Duh.

Jan. 8 vs. NY Islanders- Stars fans will get to see John Tavares for themselves.  Need I say anymore?

Mar. 8 @ Washington- My two favorite teams go head-to-head, but hopefully the Stars come out on top. 🙂

That happy feeling one gets when beating the Red Wings :D

Brad Richards is Only the 4th Highest Paid Player Now and Other Notes

-According to Pierre LeBrun, Hossa will get $7.9 million until 2015-16, and you know what that means?

Brad Richards with his $7.8 million a year is only the fourth highest player in the NHL now!  Yay!  Now my favorite Star won’t have to take so much heat for being paid so much now, because, honestly, I don’t think Hossa is worth that kind of money.  He’s a good player, yes, but he doesn’t strike me as a difference-maker. Besides, who hasn’t seen the tragic comedy that’s Marian Hossa’s recent career? ‘Nuff said.

-The Wild lost an injury-prone player to get…another injury-prone player. So what was the point of that?  Unless Martin Havlat and Marian Gaborik learn to stay healthy, Minnesota and New York both lose.

-Our very own Brenden Morrow and Stephane Robidas were invited to Team Canada’s training camp!  I’m very happy for both guys, and hopefully they make the team.

Brenden Morrow rocks. :)

Brenden Morrow rocks. 🙂

It’s Draft Day!

I gotta say, I’m pretty excited.  I’ve been waiting for this date awhile.  So, here are the big questions:

Tavares or Hedman first overall?

What will come of Vinny Lecavalier?

What about Dany Heatly?

Chris Pronger?

Marian Gaborik?

Jay Bouwmeester?

How about the goalie we’re trying to woo, Jonas Gustavsson?

And most importantly, who do the Stars take with the eighth pick?

Grading the NHL Awards Fashion

I feel like being a critic, so I’m going to grade the guys’ fashion from the awards the other night.

First up, is Alex Ovechkin:

I like this one. :)

I like this one. 🙂

I love his tie.  I just like his entire outfit.  It’s an improvement from last year’s red tux thing.  I love that little smirk he’s got.  It makes him look even more studly than he already is.  I’m glad that he took home the Hart.  Is it just me, or did Geno look a litttle mad that Alex won the Hart?  I don’t know what that’s about, so whatevs.
