I have to admit, the first-ever fantasy draft was a lot of fun to watch. Sure it had its awakward moments, like when Team Lidstrom discussed strategy apparently unaware that we could totally hear them, and when Pierre McGuire and the other TSN guys took it all waaaaay too seriously (“I like Team Lidstrom’s strategy” etc.)
But it was all fun! Obviously, B-Rad and Loui ended up on the same team, that team being Team Lidstrom. Luckily, Marty St. Louis remembered his old BFFF B-Rad and chose him, saying “I texted him at break and asked if he’d be ok with switching from center to wing.” Loui was one of the final three, but was chose by countryman Lidstrom before he could become Mr. Irrelevant.
Speaking of Mr. Irrelevant, that ended up being the Leafs’ Phil Kessel, whose irrelevancy provided some comedic fodder in the form of Alex Ovechkin capturing the moment on his phone:
That’s why I love you, Ovie.
Also hilarious was Jonathan Toews’ bitchface, which just screams meme:
What’s funny is that he seemed genuinely angry. I also wonder if Pat Kane and the other captains conspired to mess with Tazer’s head. By the sounds of their conversations, I think they might have.
Also memorable was matt Duchene going on about how this was like The Bachelor and peoplle would be voted off the island…and how funny he thought his own joke was:
I love that kid.
I really enjoyed the fantast draft as the means of picking the teams. It certainly provided many fantastic moments that made me giggle. Should be an interesting ASG.
GO TEAM LIDSTROM.
